Finding Your Skin’s Undertone

Have you ever applied your foundation and appeared really ashy or washed out? The key is finding your skin’s undertone! I have went into the M.A.C store 4 times and have been matched with the wrong shade. I assumed they were knowledgeable but unfortunately they were not. I don’t want to confuse you so i’ll get straight to the point.

The three undertones are cool, warm and neutral.

Cool Undertones

  • Skin has a pink, blue or red tint.
  • Silver jewelry compliments your skin more than gold
  • Veins appear blue or purple
  • For an example when using mac studio fix foundation C3.5, Nc15 or Nc50 ( The C stands for cool) are cool.
  • Pale tones tend to have pink undertones but can also have yellow also

Warm Undertones

  • Veins appear olive or green
  • Skin has a yellow, gold or peach tinge to it. Always keep in mind that darker skin can have more of a yellow and red undertone as in yellow on the lighter scale and red or red blue on the darker side of the scale
  • Gold compliments you skin tone more then silver
  • For an example when using mac foundation NW25

orig (2)

Neutral

  • Veins appear both blue and green
  • Gold and silver compliments your skin tone
  • In the sunlight your skin appears greenish

Okay ladies I hope the random finds will help!
